Managing lighting is a core element of smart building applications. Light levels are an essential part of what makes a room comfortable and easy to work in. This applies not only to artificial lighting, but also daylight entering through windows and skylights. While it is beneficial to make the most of natural light wherever possible, it’s also often necessary to control it to prevent overbrightness or glare, to prevent rooms becoming too hot, or for situations such as presentations where dimmer light is preferred.
With CoreSync, you can centrally control and monitor PoE window blinds. Blinds can be programmed to automatically open or close based on a set schedule or local conditions such as ambient light levels or temperature conditions, so you can maximize natural light during the day, reduce the need for artificial lighting, and reduce the impact on cooling systems. Where windows are at ground level or are overlooked, blinds can also be automatically closed at night to improve security.
Local PoE-connected controls can be used to raise or lower the blinds to suit the preferences of the occupants at any given time. At the next scheduled interval the CoreSync control system will resume its programmed control, unless overridden once more by local instructions.
PoE-connected blinds can offer a number of benefits to a CoreSync smart building, including improving the occupant experience, energy efficiency and security.
